A trail in the footsteps of the poor man of Assisi joining the four sanctuaries founded by the Saint
Francis’s Way is a path of religious and natural interest tracing the footsteps of St. Francis on his visits to the Valle Santa. It joins the places where the poor man of Assisi left his mark; Greccio, La Foresta, Poggio Bustone and Fonte Colombo. Seat of each of the four sanctuaries founded by the Saint in the Santa Reatina Valley, leading to Rome.
Other places of interest along the way, like the Basilica of Saint Francis of Assisi, include the old town of Rieti, the Abbey of San Pastore, the beech forest of San Francesco in Rivodutri and the Lungo and Ripasottile Lakes Nature Reserve. Cyclists can use the Ciclovia Conca Reatina cycle track.
A Passport that attests the actual completion of the trip can be requested at any of the four sanctuaries before departure. And if you complete the Way in at least two days, you may also request a pilgrim’s certificate at the Office of the Cammino di Francesco in Rieti.
